Diet/weight loss advice–confused?

Every website I go to says you should never go under 1200 calories bc your body will go into starvation, but those same websites say if you want to lose weight you should reduce the amount you’re supposed to eat by 500.

Well technically to maintain my weight I should be eating about 1650 calories. Obviously that means if I were to deduct that 500 I would be under 1200. I’m 5 ft tall and used to be 100 lbs. Recently I’ve been on some medication that made me gain weight and now I’m 115 and am trying to get back to my normal size.

I’ve been eating A LOT of fruits and veggies, whole grains, and healthy protein (such as tuna, salmon, etc). Yet, I only reach about 1000 calories. Today for instance, I only reached 870 calories. Don’t get me wrong, I’m eating. And constantly at that. I’m full, so it’s not like I’m trying to eat such low calories.

Yesterday for instance I ate 1500 calories and even though just a few weeks ago I was used to eating more than that, it made me feel overstuffed and bloated. I even woke up this morning feeling overly full. So isn’t it better that I don’t gorge myself? I mean if I’m hungry, I eat. If I’m not I don’t see why I should make myself eat 1200 calories and then feel like throwing up from being so full.
R-It’s not that I don’t eat. I constantly am eating but fruits and veggies aren’t very high in calories. And I’m confused. At 5’9" I’m assuming your calorie intake would be about 2000 or so? 1650 makes sense for my size but you have a bigger body meaning you need more fuel.
Btw this is what I eat (on average)

I’m always running late in the morning so I drink a protein shake which is about 180 calories.

Then for a snack I’ll have a tangerine. 40 calories.

Then for lunch I’ll have 1 cup of romaine lettuce with balsamic vinaigrette. 30 calories.

Then I’ll have an apple. 80 calories

For dinner I’ll usually have a cup of veggies and fish. 200 calories.

Then I’ll have applesauce. 80 calories.

And if I’m craving a sweet I’ll have a chocolate or something that weighs in at around 100 calories.

That only came out to 710 calories. If I find myself hungry throughout the day I might add some more protien at about 150 calories and a couple more fruits or a cup of veggies. Which are about 50 calories. Meaning even then I’m still at 910 calories. Obviously give or take some days I might eat more or less (considering my activity level). But I’m definitely never starving, just eating healthy food.
Vron- It doesn’t make sense that someone my size and someone 6 ft tall both need the same amount of calories to keep our bodies functioning. I just can’t wrap my mind around it. There’s a lot of carbs/fat in my diet. Fruits/veggies=almost 100% carbs. Plus I always make sure I get protein in at breakfast and dinner. Which have fat in it. Plus I eat fatty fish such as salmon or tuna every other day, which is high in healthy fats. I also do eat nuts, like I said that outline wasn’t what I ate exactly everyday, there’s some give and take. It was just an average. For instance right now it’s 2 AM and I was hungry. Instead of grabbing junk I ate 2 ounces of grilled chicken with 1/4 of a grilled onion (120 calories or so). And afterwards I was craving something sweet so I ate 3 pieces of sugar free Andes chocolate which is about 90 calories. So that’s 220 calories and my total for today is STILL just under 1000.

I will do anything! I’m going on bipolar medication with side affects of weight gain for the first few months at least. I cannot afford to gain more weight! I’m 5’7" and range from a size 2-4. I will do anything to keep the weight off and preferably lose more. Thank you!

Oh, and each day I consume between 1,200-1,600 calories, and I exercise for 1 and a half to 2 hours a day. (1 hour-1 hour and 15 min. of cardio, 30 min of ab and thigh work or pilates, and 15 min. stretching)
