Isn’t it interesting how young people can’t wait to get older and older people want nothing more than to be younger – or least to look younger!  Anti-aging skincare products are a billion dollar a year industry as people, both men and women, strive for that youthful appearance.

There is of course no miracle cream or pill that can make a senior citizen look like a teenager again, but there are definitely actions anyone can take as part of a good anti-aging skincare regimen.  If you follow these quick tips, we can’t guarantee that you’ll look like a kid again but we can assure you that your skin’s tone and texture will improve, and you’ll be doing a great deal to fight wrinkles and blemishes as well.

One important part of any anti-aging skin care program is cleaning your face.  It’s important to do this daily, to remove dirt, pollutants, makeup and other irritants.  As we sleep, our bodies renew and re-energize themselves.  That includes the skin, so cleansing before you sleep is important.

It doesn’t take much to clog the pores up with cosmetics, dirt and other small particles that can easily work their way in to you pores. You need to treat your skin gently to help aid the process of your anti-aging skin care regime. Using regular and harsh soaps will only cause more damage to your skin.

These soaps that you use on your hands and in the shower are far too rough on your skin and will dry your face and cause flaking.  This dryness is part of what contributes to wrinkles and other blemishes.  You need to use cleansers that are made for your face and that won’t be this harsh.

In addition to cleansing, another important part of an anti-aging skin care regiment is moisturizing.  During the course of the day, just about everything we do removes moisture from our skin.  Exposure to the elements, particularly harsh weather, can make this a lot worse.

Stress is a part of everyone’s life and you may notice that a friend or neighbor who is under a good amount of stress looks a lot older than he/she actually is. Stress causes you to tense up and when you strain your facial muscles as well, which draws even more moisture out of your skin. A daytime anti-aging skin cream is something everyone should use to help protect your face from the elements and for women it acts as a protective barrier between your skin and makeup. A nighttime anti-aging skin cream will help your body with the natural process of repairing its self.

A healthy overall body is another key to a good ant-aging skin care routine.  A healthy body has healthy skin, so drink plenty of water and get routine exercise.  You should also make sure you get enough sleep and maintain a good diet.  You’ll see the results in you feel and in your appearance.

Neglecting any of these things will reveal itself in your skin’s condition.  And really, what good is any anti-aging skincare product or routine if you’re not rested or don’t hydrate yourself by drinking enough water?  There are very few products on the market that can make up for neglecting your health or for not getting enough rest.

The best anti-aging skin care regime starts with staying well hydrated and getting enough rest. Wrinkle creams and lotions are only a supplement they are not a miracle cure for the aging process but they can produce amazing results if you do your part as well.
